2025 BMW M5
The 2025 BMW M5 ushers in a groundbreaking era for the iconic model by introducing electrification to its powertrain for the first time.
Underneath the hood, the new M5 hybrid powertrain combines a high-revving 4.4-litre V8 with a 194-hp electric motor to deliver 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. Managed by an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the new M5 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and 80-120 km/h in 2.2 seconds for quick highway overtaking. The 14.8 kWh battery enables the M5 to operate on electric power alone, giving drivers 40 km of silent and emissions-free driving when starting with a full battery.
Visually, the M5 accentuates its muscular exterior by incorporating large air intakes, wider wheel arches, and aerodynamic optimizations that signal its performance capabilities over the standard 5 series. The interior of the M5 showcases additional carbon-fibre accents and a new three-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom and red centre marker. Slightly updated paddle shifters improve the driving layout, while the centre console houses dedicated buttons for selecting the DSC system settings and drive modes to adjust the driving experience.
Traditionally available only as a sedan in North America, the new M5 Touring is here for drivers to experience the M5 as an adventure-ready performance wagon. In this form, the Touring offers an expanded cargo capacity of up to 1,630 litres, an elongated roofline with a roof spoiler for improved aerodynamics, and a more pronounced rear design with a powered liftgate for easy cargo loading.
There’s a lot to be excited about with the new generation of the BMW M5. From its new hybrid powertrain, all-electric driving capability, and advanced tech to help drivers maximize their driving potential from the refined interior, the M5 continues to be an automotive icon that sets the benchmark for luxury performance.
